Begin Now!

This is the first post on this site. The introduction of a new adventure…

We all have dreams. We all have hopes of better tomorrows. Some of us have crazy ideas more consistently than others. Regardless of who we are, we imagine all the wonderful things we are going to do, you know -someday. Well I am here to tell you that “someday” is right here, right now. Each day is the “some-day” of yesterdays, and at some point in time, that “I’m going to […fill in the blank…] someday” must become “Today IS the day!”

“The vision must be followed by the venture.
It is not enough to stare up the steps -we must step up the stairs.”
                                    -Vance Havner

The truth of the matter is that whatever it is we dream up, or wish to accomplish, not only can we only do so much preparation, but we will, in reality, never truly be ready. Planning and preparation are a necessary step and they serve their purpose. We do, however, need to eventually turn on the engine if we are to more forward.

For this reason, I am re-inventing this entire blog venture. The original free hosting option was great. It taught me how to manage the site and got me thinking in the right direction to better define what it is I was hoping to accomplish. That was a first step. Rather than stay on that step, I have now decided to start the climb to the top of this particular stair case, and in doing so, this new site comes into being.

Fast Is Easy, Slow Is Hard

Have you heard the saying ”Fast is Easy, Slow is Hard”?

If you wait until you have all the answers, until all variables are accounted for, until all unknowns have been made visible, until you are…Ready… nothing will ever change. Begin now -there’s nothing like figuring it out on the way. By being involved we incorporate the learning process with new thinking patterns. We assimilate wholly the experience using all our senses: the intellectual, emotional, physical, psychological, and in some instances, even the spiritual. Step through the looking glass.

Looking back, this is a lesson I would have once been hard pressed to try. I like my comfort zone. I like to know what I am getting into, what will happen, what I will have to do, etc. etc. By choosing for myself to grow and to push beyond those limits these past few years, I have discovered new joys of adventure and satisfaction in stretching past self-imposed limits. Yes, self-imposed. That is what our comfort zone is fundamentally. We choose where those limits are.

Do I still struggle with it? Off course I do. And I also know that along with finding out what I can about any given situation, it is ok to get started without having all the answers. Things have a way of working out that way.

And so today I stretch anew and ”Begin Now” on a new adventure.

Come on in, the water’s fine.
