What is this about?

I NEED YOUR HELP!

My name is Christine Pointeau. I am the owner and writer of this site, and I intend to adopt a child. Adoption fees these days are a minumum of $20,000. That’s how much I need to raise to make this dream a reality. This dedicated page is the chronicle of this journey.

Why Adopt? And Why Me?

For as long as I can remember, adoption has been a part of my consciousness. Before I could understant the very concept, I knew as a child that I would somehow “get,” rather than “have” children. I have visited several adoption agencies to gather information. I have done research online. Everywhere I look, the very minimum necessary to adopt a child in this day and age is $20,000, and can reach around $30-40,000 if you want to expediate the process and receive your child within 3 to 4 month.

Family is very important to me. My siblings, myself and parents are very close and love to get together. It’s a natural thing for me to want to have a family of my own to add to the mix. I cannot wait to take my child cycling on country roads, or take her/him to our favorite river spot and play in the kayaks, or show them the beauty of nature and the animal world, and even take them to France to see where I grew up.

I am ready, a little scared, and very excited about helping a child discover the world, and hopefully help them learn to make proper choices in life.

Here is what needs to happen: I need to pay off a small personal loan at the same time as I am setting money aside for the adoption in order to make all this feasible.

As an artist, I can use my gifts and talents to raise part of the money through this site ChristinePointeau.com and my art site River by Night . I will be applying for adoption grants (typically $500 to $3,000), and if need be, take a small loan further in the process to finance the rest. Obviously, I prefer to raise as much as I can before resorting to yet more loans.

Phase One: pay off existing small loan; start raising adoption fee; apply for grant.

Phase Two: with $10,000 in the Adoption Fund, start paperwork process with an agency; raise rest of adoption fee.

Phase Three: paperwork, and more paperwork… and lots of patience as I wait for my child to come home…
