The “What Goes What Stays” Game

The ”What Goes What Stays” Game

I invented a game recently. It’s called the “What Goes What Stays” game.

There are two main concepts to consider in this game.

Everything has a vibration

When you look at an item in your home, notice how you feel. Are you fond of the memories evoked, does its beauty bring you joy? Or are you resentful, feeling it is just taking up room and gathering dust? If you were to move, would you be happy to take it with you or would you be irritated with one more thing to pack? Positive vibrations bring us higher, negative vibrations weigh us down.

Energy flows

Think of a pond. The water is still. It is one unit in and of itself. All life around the pond goes about is little routine and everybody is content. Now picture a river. Water is constantly on the move, sometimes slowly, sometimes at dizzying speed. Step into the water and by the time your second foot enters the stream, it is different water altogether.

Let’s apply that analogy to our home.

It is a pond or a river? Are we comfortably living with the same routine day after day, visiting with the same friends, having the same issues? Do we hear ourselves say “Nothing ever changes!…” Or are we inviting new experiences, new people, new projects? Now don’t get me wrong. There is nothing wrong with stability, a bit of structure, and keeping the same friends. What I mean is, even though we keep some familiar people and things in our lives, we need to be exposed to new experiences and ideas in order to learn and grow.

Back to the “What Goes What Stays” game.

Starting with one room, I went through shelves of books, DVDs, old VHS, etc., re-evaluating my attachment to each item. It either fell into the Goes-with-me-onto-new-adventures category, or Stays-behind category. The Stays-behind category is then donated, taken to Half Price Books, or given to friends as fitted that particular item. I then proceed to the next room, and so on through the house.

I choose to stir up the pond and create a river of flowing, inviting energy into my life. I am making room for new experiences.

Yours in Peace and Health,

Christine
